General Product Description:

A DMX sub controller meeting the DMX-512/1900 digital signal standards converting to analog signal to drive the RGB LEDs. This 3 channel PX24500 DMX Decoder & Driver is generally used for RGB control and is ideally suited to controlling RGB tape and other RGB 12v or 24v constant voltage lighting. The unit is used either with a DMX master controller or in conjunction with lighting automation systems for instance Rako or Lutron to provide 256 level brightness and full colour control.
This decoder can be used to control either 12 or 24 volt LEDs by using either a 12 or 24 volt power supply. 3 channel 5 amp operation giving an out put of 15amps which equates to 360w for 24v tape or 180w for 12v tape.
This means this unit can be used to control up to 25 meters of 14.4W/m LED tape at 24 volts or 12.5 meters at 12 volts.
For 7.2W/m tape 50 metres of 24 volt tape or 25 metres of 12 volt tape can be controlled.
Controller size is 177mm x 40mm wide x 35mm high.
RJ45 interface and supplied with 2m CAT 5E patch cable.

FAQs:

How do I set the DMX address on the PX24500 DMX Decoder?

You can set the DMX address by pressing buttons mounted on the unit. The address will be displayed digitally, making it easy to configure and adjust as needed. This feature ensures that you can accurately assign one DMX address or multiple DMX channels for complex lighting setups.

What kind of input voltage does the DMX Decoder and Driver PX24500 support?

The PX24500 supports a wide range of input voltages, making it compatible with various power supply options. This flexibility ensures that the decoder can operate efficiently in different installations, whether for residential, commercial, or stage lighting.

Can this DMX decoder be used with RGB LED strips?

Yes, the PX24500 DMX Decoder is designed to work with both RGB and single-colour LED strips. It uses a DMX control signal to adjust colours, brightness, and modes, providing comprehensive and precise lighting control for your projects.

How does the PX24500 DMX Decoder use a DMX control signal to operate LED strips?

The PX24500 DMX Decoder receives a DMX control signal, which is a standardised digital signal used to communicate lighting commands. This DMX signal is then converted into a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal by the decoder. The PWM signal is used to control the brightness and colour of LED strips with precision, allowing for smooth dimming and seamless colour transitions. This process ensures that your LED lighting responds accurately to the DMX control inputs, delivering consistent and reliable lighting performance.

How can I tell if my DMX Decoder is properly connected to the DMX receiver and lighting setup?

Once your DMX Decoder is connected to the DMX receiver and your lighting fixtures, the unit's display will indicate the active DMX address and signal status. For example, if the connection is successful, the display will show the assigned DMX address and other relevant settings. It’s always a good idea to review your connections and ensure that cables are securely plugged in, as a stable DMX signal is crucial for reliable performance. If you experience any issues, double-check your wiring and signal pathways.

Can you give an example of how the display helps with setup and operation?

The digital display on the PX24500 DMX Decoder is very user-friendly. For example, when setting up the unit, the display allows you to easily review and assign the DMX address by showing the selected number in real-time. This makes configuration straightforward and helps ensure accuracy in assigning multiple DMX channels. The display also shows status information and mode settings, making it simple to monitor and adjust the decoder's operation as needed.
